Recently Zoe’s brother was going out to play a set at the bar, so he grabbed the acoustic and a guitar strap from his bass, when he pulled out the acoustic at the bar, he realized the locking mechanism on the strap was too large for the area on the neck where the strap button is! Being the" MacGyver" type he took the string from a travel tag he had in his gig bag and tied it all together and played on.
Later I went looking for a more suitable locking strap for the acoustic. I found the Martin "Lock-it" 2 inch cotton weave strap. I chose brown but it is also available in black or cream. A leather option is also available, however they are about twice the price as the cotton. The “Lock-it” brand has a variety of straps in a bunch of different styles and colors; they feature the same "Lock-it" strap locks, while carrying a lower price tag.
First impressions: The thin and flexible spring loaded end fits in tight places.
The strap installs with minimal effort.
The thin ends lay flat and rotates into place.
Gave the strap some good shakes and it seems to hold securely.
Overall it Seems like a nice, secure and easy to use strap, I’m sure it does its job better than a string from a luggage tag!
